Social media blows up as Tumut races on Boxing Day are abandoned

Racing NSW has confirmed the Tumut race meeting scheduled for Friday, December 26, 2025, has been abandoned due to the unavailability of ambulance services and other required medical providers.

Officials advised the decision was made to ensure safety standards were met, with the absence of essential emergency services leaving no alternative but to call off the meeting. Further information regarding rescheduling or implications for participants will be communicated by Racing NSW in due course.

Social media quickly blew up with criticism, with many racing participants and fans openly slamming Ambulance NSW over its role in the situation and the lack of available coverage that led to the abandonment.
