Apprentice jockey Sheriden Tomlinson has been fortunate to escape serious harm after a dramatic fall during a race at Morphettville on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was riding the gelding Kalasec in the opening race when they took a tumble after crossing the finish line.
Although immediately attended to by on-site medical staff and subsequently hospitalized for observation, Tomlinson sustained only soft tissue and ligament damage to his pelvis.
“I’m very lucky. There are no breaks, I’m just stiff and sore,” said the apprentice.
As for Kalasec, a veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities post-fall, according to Racing SA stewards.
