Sports Entertainment Group has finalised its acquisition of the former racing industry-owned radio station RSN, with SENTrack now broadcasting across both frequencies from Monday.
The deal, which was confirmed in July, sees SEG pay $3.25 million for the audio and digital assets of 3UZ Pty Ltd, with payments to be made over a three-year period.
RSN’s long-serving team signed off at the weekend, with veteran broadcaster Andrew Bensley confirming his retirement after an extraordinary 47-year career in racing media. Bensley, who had been the program director since 2022, reflected fondly on his journey. “All I ever wanted to do was work in radio. The dream did come true,” he said.
The station’s programming has already undergone change, with Gareth Hall’s Giddy Up taking over the morning slot previously occupied by Michael Felgate’s Racing Pulse. Breakfast presenter Daniel Harford has also departed as part of the reshuffle.
Sports Entertainment Group, owner of the SEN network, recently posted a strong financial result. For FY25, the company delivered a $22.9 million profit after tax and reported an underlying EBITDA of $10.5 million, representing 62 per cent organic growth. SEG’s revenue grew by $2.4 million during the year, with the group closing the financial year in a net cash position of $1.3 million.
With SENTrack taking over RSN’s frequencies, the merger signals the start of a new era for racing radio, combining tradition with the broader SEN sports media brand.
