Glyn Schofield has aggravated an old injury but nothing will keep him from riding Hay List on Saturday.

Schofield was stood down from riding at Canterbury after the third race on Wednesday but said he would be back to partner Hay List in the Group Two Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Warwick Farm.

The jockey will get treatment on a lower back problem on Thursday and will miss the Wyong meeting.

“It is an injury I did about two months ago and I have been receiving treatment and it has been feeling good,” Schofield said.

“It just went again and it is quite sore but I’m sure it will be right for Saturday.”

Trainer John McNair, who is still carrying his own injuries after a horse fell on him last year, has not contemplated booking another rider.

Hay List completes the trio of the walking wounded after having a troublesome hoof poulticed earlier this week.

The gelding has a long history of injury and illness and his hoof became inflamed the morning after he galloped between races at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Schofield believes Hay List’s class can get him over the line when he takes part in his first race for 12 months on Saturday.

“He certainly isn’t at his peak fitness-wise but class can take these horses a long way,” he said.

“There is no doubting he is the best sprinter I’ve ever ridden and that includes Cape Of Good Hope in Hong Kong.”

Bookmakers agree with Schofield’s assessment with the TAB posting him the $2 favourite in opening markets ahead of flying filly Snitzerland at $5.50.

Hay List will jump from barrier two while Snitzerland has gate nine.
