Group 2-placed maiden among a host of top rising 3YOs to step out at Rosehill trials

Established top-liners will continue to emerge at the trials in Sydney this week, but it is not only the Group-class trials that feature potential spring stars.

A number of soon-to-be three-year-olds who were key players in feature two-year-old racing earlier this season will be in action at Rosehill on Tuesday morning, including the Brad Widdup-trained Savvy Hallie.

The daughter of Hellbent will have the second trial of her preparation in a 900-metre hitout that also includes ATC Sires’ runner-up State Visit.

Savvy Hallie is yet to win in four starts but has finished second three times and is part of an exciting young team of Widdup’s, which includes last Saturday’s Randwick winner Nashville Jack.

“Her and Nashville Jack look pretty exciting so fingers crossed one or both of them can measure up,” Widdup said.

“There is a lot of water to go under the bridge, but I’m very happy with her.

“It’s hard to know until you produce them but she is going the right way.”

Savvy Hallie won her first trial, at Rosehill on July 15, which was her first public appearance since beating home all bar Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m).

The start prior she finished second to subsequent Champagne Stakes winner Nepotism in the Group 3 Baillieu Stakes (1400m).

Champagne Stakes runner-up Within The Law, Black Opal champion King Of Pop, Pago Pago winner Skyhook, Silver Slipper and Golden Gift runner-up West Of Swindon and Canonbury Stakes winner Blitzburg are among the others engaged in two-year-old trials.

Last-start Kindergarten Stakes winner North England will also step out, but will take part in the second of two 900m trials on the course proper, which also features Magic Night Stakes winner Memo, Chris Waller-trained pair Lindermann and Moira and Group 1 winner Another Prophet.

The trial session kicks off with a 1000m Group-class trial including Arapaho, Land Legend and Interpretation.
