Irish-born trainer Robert Quinn is quickly becoming a convert to the Australian two-year-old scene and his enthusiasm will go up another notch if Bronco Revolution can put herself in the picture for next month’s Inglis Millennium.

The daughter of exciting stallion Russian Revolution was a $35,000 Classic sale pick-up and put the writing on the wall with an encouraging third at Canterbury on debut.

Camping on the heels of a solid speed, she hit the front halfway up the straight and was only narrowly overhauled by backmarkers in the final bounds, earning a shot at Saturday’s Ned Australian Whiskey Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill.

While Quinn is keen to see the track improve from its current soft rating before confirming a start, he says the filly has continued to please him and he is hopeful she can bank some all-important prizemoney to cement a spot in next month’s $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m) at Randwick.

“It (Inglis Millennium) has been a target for a little while, so if it was all to come together on Saturday, that would be brilliant,” Quinn said.

“Her trials have been great and we were delighted with her first run. They broke ten-and-a-half (seconds) in the first furlong, there was huge speed.

“The winner came from last and it was a huge effort to box on as she did.”

Quinn trains a boutique team at Warwick Farm and has only had a handful of juvenile runners.

They include Miyoshi, who claimed the scalp of subsequent Group performer Aft Cabin as a late-season two-year-old in 2022, but he says Bronco Revolution is a more precocious type than her former stablemate.

While Quinn’s budget dictates that early-running youngsters are hard to come by, in Bronco Revolution he hopes he might have a filly who can compete for some of the lucrative juvenile prizemoney.

While accustomed to a more classic style of racing in Ireland, Quinn is quickly becoming a fan of Australia’s focus on young horses, believing it brings a dynamic element to the sport.

“I think it’s fantastic, the two-year-old program over here, and it all leads into the Holy Grail, the (Golden) Slipper,” Quinn said.

“Not only are you racing for great money, but right from the time of the early two-year-old trials, there is excitement and anticipation through to pre-Christmas, then everyone is thinking about the Magic Millions.

“One week after another you’re looking for a new star to come out.”

Bronco Revolution will be ridden by Jay Ford and has drawn barrier nine.
