Rhys Archard is relocating his training operation to the private Mangalore Park facility near Seymour in the coming weeks.
A lifelong Cohuna resident, Archard has spent most of his career training from Echuca. He spent time in Adelaide, where he won the SANFL Magarey Medal, and now aims to expand his team of 16 horses at the new facility.
Owned by Stephen Hinchliffe, Mangalore Park has previously been home to trainers like Brett Mallyon and Danny Penna. Archard praised the property, saying, “It’s a beautiful property, great set-up and everything is closer to Melbourne and the other side of the city, which seems to be where all the races are headed.”
Archard will reside in Nagambie, and the 100-acre property features an uphill track, bush trails, a swimming pool, and modern stabling. Though younger horses will stay at Echuca for now, Archard hopes to grow his operation to 20-25 horses.
Having trained 60 winners, Archard looks forward to expanding and finding more success.
