It has been a very different day to the normal for racing participants in South East Queensland as, amongst other things, they waited for the official green light to indicate that the weekend racing fixtures would go on after the Greater Brisbane area was put into lockdown by the State Premier this morning.
Racing Queensland had to consult with Queensland Health before receiving a confirmed directive late this afternoon that meetings within South East Queensland during the Greater Brisbane lockdown period will proceed … but would be conducted patron free and restricted to essential racing personnel only.
For those at the track, the wearing of masks will be compulsory (except for jockeys, but only when they are racing).
The current lockdown is set to last for three days. It will be reviewed at the end of that time.
