Promising colt Prost has officially been retired to stud and will join the stallion ranks at Aquis Farm in Queensland, standing at their Canungra property for the 2025 breeding season.
Raced in partnership by Kia Ora Stud and Tony Fung Investments—through the racing division of Hong Kong-based Aquis—Prost made an early impression on the track. The son of Snitzel was placed in the Breeders’ Plate and claimed victory in the Canonbury Stakes as a two-year-old, defeating a competitive field that included Traffic Warden.
Prost’s spring campaign saw him notch a second stakes win when he took out the Group 2 Callander-Presnell (Stan Fox Stakes) over the Randwick mile, adding to an already strong resume of two wins from eight career starts.
“Prost had unbridled speed, Group-placed as a pre-Christmas two-year-old, he then returned to win a major Golden Slipper lead-up in a record time and had the underlying class to win a Group 2 over the Randwick mile at three,” Aquis director of sales Jonathan Davies said.
“I strongly encourage breeders to inspect Prost. His race record and pedigree are impressive and fully transparent, but it’s the exceptional quality and type that separates Prost from others in his price range.”
A $650,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Prost is a three-quarter brother to Golden Slipper winner Shinzo and Group 3-winning filly Exhilarates. He was trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
Prost will stand at a fee of $13,200 (inc GST), joining a solid seven-stallion Aquis roster that includes:
- Kobayashi – $13,200
- Jonker – $12,500 (first crop of two-year-olds race next season)
- Lean Mean Machine – $8,800
- Officiating – $8,800
- Stronger – $8,800
- Glenfiddich – $4,400
