In a triumphant display of speed and skill, Overpass secured victory in the prestigious $1.5 million Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot. The accomplished horse outpaced competitors, with Oscar’s Fortune finishing in second place and Ripcord claiming the third spot.
Overpass, guided by a strategic ride from jockey Josh Parr, executed a successful manoeuvre from a wide gate. Positioned alongside Savatoxl, Overpass accelerated impressively around the corner, ultimately surging ahead to clinch the coveted victory.
Trainer Bjorn Baker commended Parr’s riding prowess, stating, “He rode him like the best horse. He’s a big race rider, and this horse deserves it.” The collaborative effort between rider and trainer proved instrumental in Overpass’s success.
