Munhamek, fresh off securing Damien Oliver’s final career win in the Gold Rush, is now headed for a shot against racing’s elite in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 10.
Trainer Nick Ryan has his sights set on securing a spot in the All Star Mile, and the CF Orr Stakes is a ‘win-and-you’re-in’ event, with Munhamek’s impressive performance in the Gold Rush potentially securing a wildcard entry.
Ryan believes Munhamek’s current rating of close to 106 justifies his place in a race like the Orr Stakes.
Although he’ll face tough competition, including Mr Brightside, Ryan is confident in Munhamek’s fitness edge.
Munhamek had a brief break in Perth post-race before returning to Flemington in excellent condition. Blake Shinn has been offered the ride in the CF Orr Stakes.
