Michelle Payne’s hopes of a second Melbourne Cup on Prince Of Penzance appear to be over.
It was revealed on Wednesday that Payne will not partner the Melbourne Cup winner when he resumes in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 27.
The news angered Payne who vented her frustration on Twitter before deleting the tweet.
“Not anymore I’m done, Why work your arse off for people who don’t appreciate what you do and write you off anyway #moretolife,” Payne said.
Payne was seriously injured in a race fall at Mildura in May and underwent pancreatic surgery.
She recently made a return to riding trackwork and was looking forward to continuing her association with Prince Of Penzance who made the jockey a household name.
Payne has applied for a training licence and has hopes of combining training and riding when her application is granted.
