Leading trainers Gai Waterhouse and Mike Moroney have announced that several of their premier horses will not be participating in this year’s Melbourne Cup.
Moroney has made the call to send Emissary for a spell. The 2022 Melbourne Cup runner-up recently finished 26 lengths behind the winner in the Caulfield Cup, following a previous 10-length defeat in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes.
Gai Waterhouse has revealed that Goldman, who once stood as an $11 chance for the Melbourne Cup with online bookies, is heading for the paddock.
In addition, Waterhouse confirmed the absence of Hoo Ya Mal from the Group 1 Melbourne Cup which takes place at Flemington on November 7.
