Quality staying mare Zanteca has been retired due to a suspensory injury
A lightweight Melbourne Cup 2016 contender who was almost guaranteed a start in the final field has been retired due to injury.
The Darren Weir trained Zanteca was set to run in Wednesday’s Geelong Cup before embarking on a Melbourne Cup run after her eye catching second to Almandin in The Bart Cummings has been retired due to an suspensory injury.
Zanteca was on the 26th line of order of entry for the Melbourne Cup field.
