Success breeds success, so they say.
And so it is for Chris Waller’s rampant yard which stole every award and accolade last week.
He has just been given the smart Provincial Championship heat winner SAFADO to train.
The hulking rising star was formerly trained by Kim Waugh and it is now no secret, she and husband Mark are not happy about the transfer.
Especially after he stormed home to win a barrier trial the other day beating the super smart Victorem.
Mr Waugh vented his annoyance at the transfer on social media, and it no doubt was heightened by the fact it came at about the same time the stable lost a rising star in UPTOWN LAD as well.
As for Uptown Lad, who also won a Provincial Championships heat and 6 races from 13 starts, he has reinjured a tendon and has been retired. Which was terribly saddening for the Wyong trainer as Uptown Lad was going great guns and recently brilliantly won a barrier trial – he was set to return to racing.
He did win $285,500 in stakes.
Safado won $135,435 from just 7 starts which resulted in a trio of wins and 2 further placings.
Many, many people went on twitter to share their thoughts and commiserations with the Waughs.
