Top Queensland jockey Jim Byrne is just too good.
He rode the Team Snowden filly MABOOSHA (Dream Ahead – Boomex) in this Gr 3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m and she drew wide but Byrne just knew what to do.
Visiting Melbourne Cup winning hoop Jye McNeil conversely on Amish Boy drew one gate inside the filly yet he found himself three and four wide all the way. He ran about 6th.
But, Marboosha chimed in at the 300m and ran down TRAMONTO (Wandjina – Sunset Express) who ran a personal best up in grade and was very game.
Former star 2YO KIUKANO (Bel Esprit – Kiss For Gran) ran an unusual race in-so-much-sas she sat behind the speed today and finished the race off for a very game third.
She tends to lead.
But all honours with the winner.
“We needed something to work for us early and we thought we might get that because there was a lot of speed,” said co trainer Paul Snowden.
“But, the speed didn’t come, yet Jimmy summed it up quickly. Not ideal scenario for her as she over races but she was too good in the end.”
She really is a good, strong honest filly.
Today, she was stepping out for her 9th race start and the win makes her form look like 4 wins and 4 placings for $310,000 in prize money for her owner Emirates Park Stud.
The wet track made the form go up in the air but this consistent filly won won a stakes race at Flemington back in march is headed to Gr 1 races now over the carnival.
