Giant beater Libertini has gained a slot in next weekends $15m Everest at Randwick.
The Anthony Cummings trained Libertini upset Everest favourites Nature Strip and Classique Legend in the G2 Premiere Stakes at Randwick on the weekend catapulting her into the box seat to gain one of the remaining two slots in The Everest field.
A deal did not take long with the announcement that Libertini had gained a spot in the race on Tuesday afternoon in which she is the $6 third favourite with bookmaker Sportsbet having already priced in that she would gain a slot.
Slot holder and bloodstock agent James Harron announced on Tuesday that a deal has been done and the star mare is in the richest race on turf.
Libertini is a three-time Group 2 winner having won last year’s Silver Shadow Stakes and Furious Stakes, which are both 1200-metre races at Randwick, before finishing third at Group 1 level in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
Chris Waller holds the last available slot in the race.
