No-nonsense Tulloch Lodge galloper Kontiki Park will be sent to Brisbane to try to avenge his Villiers Stakes defeat.
Kontiki Park is one of two Sydney-trained horses nominated for the Listed $200,000 Bernborough Handicap (1600m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse confirmed Kontiki Park’s trip north in her daily blog.
The winner of five races, Kontiki Park came from last to finish second to Monton in the Villiers Stakes at Warwick Farm.
Sharp Princess, a former New Zealand mare now domiciled at Warwick Farm with trainer Bjorn Baker, is also among the 24 Bernborough entries.
A consistent stakes performer in New Zealand, Sharp Princess made her Australian debut when luckless in last month’s Hawkesbury Gold Cup.
She has also been nominated for Saturday’s Rosehill meeting.
Doomben will also play host to two Group Three races – the Vo Rogue Plate and the BJ McLachlan Stakes.
The McLachlan Stakes is shaping as a crucial lead-up race to next month’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic with pre-post favourite Sizzling and the Waterhouse-trained Driefontein, the $7 third pick in latest betting, among the entries.
