The Anthony and Sam Freedman trained King Of Hastings ($9.50) completed a clean sweep for visiting trainers of the three feature races on the card at the Sunshine Coast when he outgunned the Maher / Eustace trained Charleise ($5.50) and the David Vandyke trained $3.60 favourite Desert Lord to win the Listed Glasshouse Handicap.
Earlier Joe Pride had taken out The Caloundra Cup with Stockman and Mick Price and Michael Kent had won the Winx Guineas with Our Playboy.
King Of Hastings had put the writing on the wall with a highly creditable fourth place finish in the Group 3 WJ Healy at Eagle Farm in his previous start when finishing less than two lengths behind the likes of Away Game and Exhilarates.
King Of Hastings did it from the front here, matching strides with Scallopini ($17) as the duo set the early target out front.
Scallopini held a slight advantage on straightening with Niccanova (the $5 second favourite) seeming posing a threat on the inside, but jockey Taylor Marshall sent King Of Hastings past Scallopini at the 250m mark and, with Niccanova not going on with it, it was suddenly catch me if you can challenge for the remainder of the opposition as Marshall had King Of Hastings in full cry as he led the field into the final 200m.
Charleise and Desert Lord tried to do just that, but there was no give in King Of Hasting’s commitment on the day and he kept going strongly, under what turned out to be a prefect ride by Marshall, to keep all challenges at bay.
The outsider Redouble ($101), one of four runners at $100 or higher odds for the race, added value to the first four dividend when running on widest of all to claim fourth place.
