Doubt has been cast over one of the key Caulfield Cup runners less than 24 hours out from the race after undergoing a veterinary examination by Racing Victoria veterinarians on Friday afternoon.
Stable connections of the Ed Dunlop-trained Red Verdon advised stewards that the Caulfield Cup hopeful had precautionary scans completed of the near fore leg of the horse.
Racing Victoria confirmed in a statement that Red Verdon had dermatitis of the forelimbs which had caused mild inflammation but was passed fit to race.
Red Verdon will be re-examined on course prior to tomorrow’s $5 million Caulfield Cup.
