Kerrin McEvoy will test his fitness for Rosehill Guineas day with at least two barrier trial rides on Friday.
The Darley jockey says he is on the mend after escaping serious injury in a trackwork fall.
“Basically it’s a case of working the muscle soreness out now,” McEvoy told Sky Sports Radio.
McEvoy missed Wednesday’s Sydney meeting and spent time in a hyperbaric chamber in a bid to speed up his recovery after a Warwick Farm spill on Tuesday.
Helmet and Darley stablemate Benfica are two confirmed triallists for the jockey at Randwick.
Helmet, scratched at the barrier when favourite to extend his winning sequence to three in the VRC Sires’ Produce earlier this month, will be trying to prove he is worthy of a Golden Slipper start when he steps out in the third heat of 20 trials.
McEvoy has seven Rosehill rides, including leading Guineas fancy Retrieve for Darley and trainer Peter Snowden.
Retrieve was unplaced for only the second time in an 11-start career when midfield in the Randwick Guineas but occupies a lofty position in Rosehill Guineas betting as a $6 chance.
McEvoy has three outside mounts with stewards allowing him to ride Under The Eiffel a half-kilogram over if he can’t make the Melbourne galloper’s 52kg minimum in the Ajax Stakes.
