Champion jockey Kerrin McEvoy has been given the call up to ride Winx after regular jockey Hugh Bowman failed a concussion test.
Kerrin McEvoy will pilot Winx in a race day jump-out after Race 1 on Saturday’s Rosehill card as a tune up ahead of Saturday weeks Group 1 George Ryder Stakes.
Hugh Bowman anticipates that he will be cleared to ride next week in which he will be back aboard the Champion mare as she looks to make it 26 straight wins however if he is not available to ride McEvoy will be aboard in her George Ryder assignment.
McEvoy has ridden the Champion mare before in a jump-out last year when Bowman was unavailable.
#GoWinx Update: While we await the verdict on @HugeBowman’s health, @cwallerracing has turned to @KPMcEvoy for the crucial 1000m solo gallop at Rosehill on Saturday.
If Bowman is not cleared, is expected that McEvoy will pick up the ride in the George Ryder on March 24th. pic.twitter.com/PrFGXq8AWx
