Victorian rider Katelyn Mallyon will head to Macau to compete in a unique jockeys’ challenge.
The Macau Jockey Club will stage the International Mixed Doubles Jockeys Challenge on Saturday with Australia’s representative Mallyon one of 12 riders – six female and six male – to compete.
South Australian-based apprentice Emily Finnegan is another who will ride in the Challenge, representing her home country, Ireland.
There will be six teams, each consisting of one male and one female rider, competing against each other in three races.
The doubles partners are chosen via a ballot.
The line-up of riders includes champion Japanese jockey Yutaka Take.
