The Kris Lee trained Kalapour has won himself a spot in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup field after taking out the Archer Stakes on Derby Day today.
Kalapour led throughout the 2500m event at Flemington to secure the last spot in this year’s edition of the Melbourne Cup.
The Lees trained stayer had to win the race to guarantee a spot in the race with the son of War Command sitting on the 27th line of order for the Cup prior to the race.
Kalapour has shortened from $151 in Melbourne Cup odds to $51 with online betting sites following the win.
