Jockey charged with possession of jiggers

There has been a sequel to the disturbing situation raised by a photograph taken at track work on August 30 during the build-up to the iconic Birdsville race meeting in September with jockey Ric McMahon pleading guilty to a charge related to the possession of a banned device.

Police alleged that McMahon had been in possession of a banned electrical device and charged him in mid-October (under the Racing Integrity Act) with one count of possessing a prohibited item at a licensed venue

McMahon pleaded guilty via telephone link when his case was heard in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court.

He will be sentenced on November 21.
