Jockey and racing awaits test for COVID-19

Jockey Mark Zahra is awaiting a result for COVID-19 after he shared a commercial flight with someone who was positive to the virus.

Racing as whole has almost been suspended with the only meeting in the country today being Narromine after Zahra was contacted by authorities on Wednsday alerting him that he shared a flight with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19.

Zahra has not shown any symptoms since potentially being exposed to the virus on 12th March with the test result expected to be announced today.

“If nothing else changes from a government directive, then we expect to be able to come back to racing ASAP if the test result is negative.” Giles said on RSN.
