Adam Hyeronimus will represent NSW in the first heat of the 2012 National Apprentice Series at Moonee Valley on Friday.
The 21-year-old, who is indentured to Gai Waterhouse at Randwick, will ride the Russell Cameron-trained Next in the opening heat race, run under lights over 1200 metres.
It will be the third time Hyeronimus has taken part in the series, which is comprised of seven heats run throughout Australia.
“I enjoyed my first win for New South Wales at Launceston last year and the series is a great experience for apprentice jockeys,” Hyeronimus said.
“Things have been fantastic since moving to Gai’s and I can’t wait to get out there and represent our state as best as I can.”
The National Apprentice Series was launched in 2008 to give junior riders a chance to increase their skills by competing under different conditions at various interstate tracks.
A different apprentice is selected to represent NSW in each of the seven heats with the NSW heat to be held at Canterbury on April 13.
