Injured jockey Hugh Bowman will be guided by medical advice whether he rides at the Coolmore Classic meeting.
Bowman suffered concussion when he came off leading 2018 Golden Slipper contender Performer at Randwick on Saturday when the colt made a sudden sidestep to the left.
As well as Saturday’s Group One meeting at Rosehill, Bowman is booked to ride Ruthven in the Hong Kong Derby the following day but needs a clearance to fly.
“I’m hoping to ride this weekend but I’ll be guided by doctors,” Bowman told Sky Sports Radio.
“I’ve still got a headache coming and going. I was very lucky really.
“If the doctors suggest I should wait I won’t hesitate.”
Because of the concussion, Bowman must complete a baseline test which he plans to do on Thursday.
“I will see Racing NSW doctor David Duckworth and I would like to see a neurosurgeon as well to make sure all bases are covered.
“The doctors said if I’m right to ride on Saturday I will be right to fly to Hong Kong.
“But I will not be taking any unnecessary risks.”
Performer needs to prove himself in a barrier trial next week to take his place in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper on March 24 with trainer Chris Waller to try him in blinkers.
