Outstanding sprinter Hay List kept a tight grip on Doomben 10,000 favouritism after the barrier draw for Saturday’s Group One feature.
The John McNair-trained Hay List drew perfectly in gate two on Wednesday in the nine-horse field for the $650,000 1350m feature.
TAB Sportsbet posted him at $1.50 after the barrier draw with Beaded ($6.50) and Love Conquers All ($8) the only other runners under double-figure odds.
Hay List has been a short-priced favourite in Doomben 10,000 betting since it was announced last week Black Caviar would miss the race.
The Peter Snowden-trained Beaded came up with gate seven while Love Conquers All, who boasts a win over Hay List, will jump from barrier five.
Hay List has finished second to the unbeaten Black Caviar, who has been sent for a spell, three times this year, the latest in the BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 14.
The Sue Grills-trained Border Rebel drew barrier one in the Doomben 10,000.
Dual Stradbroke Handicap winner Black Piranha came up with the outside gate with BTC Cup placegetter Buffering drawn directly to the Sydney sprinter’s inside.
