Melbourne Cup hopeful Basilinna has been ruled out of the spring carnival.
Racing Victoria confirmed on Wednesday that the Emma-Lee and David Browne-trained mare will undergo surgery to remove bone chips from her near-fore fetlock.
Basilinna had secured a start in the Melbourne Cup by winning the Listed Andrew Ramsden (2800m) at Flemington in May.
She resumed late last month and finished behind Revelare over 2000m at Caulfield.
Prior to her setback, Basilinna had been allotted 51kg for the Melbourne Cup.
