Highly promising filly Tempted is set to use Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) as a potential audition for Godolphin’s coveted slot in The Everest (1200m).
The daughter of Godolphin, now under the guidance of Ciaron Maher, made an eye-catching return with victory in the Group 2 Run To The Rose and will step out in the 1400m feature on Saturday. Despite the rise in distance, Maher indicated a drop back in trip was on the cards beyond the weekend.
“She’s probably more of a Coolmore or Everest type of filly, I would say,” Maher explained. “Godolphin do have their slot, so there are discussions, but it will be one step at a time. We’ll head to Saturday and see how we line up.”
Maher was buoyant about Tempted’s progress since her first-up performance. “She was up there with the best of them as a two-year-old and she looks to have come back in very good order and we’ve certainly been very happy with her,” he said.
Tempted has drawn barrier eight in the nine-horse Golden Rose field, with Ethan Brown to maintain his association in the saddle. She is currently quoted at $17 in early markets for The Everest, adding intrigue to her spring campaign.
