A Stakes race at Bendigo will be Gold Coast Belle's next assignment rather than a trip to Adelaide.

Consistent filly Gold Coast Belle will look to add some Black Type to her name when she runs in a Stakes race at Bendigo.

A winner of three races and placed second on two occasions from her five career starts, Gold Coast Belle runs in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) on Saturday.

The Bendigo Guineas can set up horses for later in their careers with the race having been won previously by Wonder Boy, War Machine, Waltz On By, Annavisto, Riddle Me That, Milwaukee and Silent Sedition.

Gold Coast Belle had also been an acceptor for the Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m) at Morphettville on Saturday, but trainer Danny O’Brien said it had always been the intention to run at Bendigo.

“We accepted with Gold Coast Bell and Adelaide in case she drew really poorly at Bendigo, but she’s drawn OK there,” O’Brien said.

“She’ll come into seven or eight when the barriers sort themselves out, and she’s in good shape, so it looks in a race that should be really competitive in.”

Gold Coast Belle started her current campaign with a maiden win at Seymour before running second on the Hillside track at Sandown.

She then got back into winning form on the Sandown Lakeside circuit before scoring a comprehensive win at Caulfield over 1400m on April 11.

O’Brien said Gold Coast Belle had continued to thrive.

“She’s just one of those fillies that’s just continued to thrive the deeper she has got into the prep,” O’Brien said.

“Each time she’s gone to the races, she’s looked a better horse, and she was dominant the other day, and she certainly hasn’t gone backwards.

“She’s a good style filly.”

O’Brien said Saturday’s performance would determine what may lie ahead for Gold Coast Belle with a trip to Queensland for winter potentially on the cards.

“It’s still open-ended, but we’ll get through the weekend,” O’Brien said.

“There is either that or the temptation may be to give her a break and have a really good look at the spring.”

O’Brien also had Jett Smash engaged in Saturday’s race.

Jett Smash had won his previous four outings, but O’Brien has elected to save him for another day.
