Godolphin’s sprinting depth will again be on display when two of its leading three-year-olds line up in Saturday’s Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington.
The powerhouse operation heads into the feature on the back of Tempted’s dominant victory in the Eskimo Prince Stakes at Randwick and will now present Tentyris and Beiwacht against older rivals.
Tentyris returns after claiming the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes during the Melbourne spring and has opened a $2.50 favourite for his first-up assignment.
Beiwacht also resumes as a Group 1 winner, having captured the Golden Rose at Rosehill last preparation.
Damian Lane has been booked to ride the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Tentyris, replacing the injured Mark Zahra, while Ben Melham will partner Beiwacht for trainer Chris Waller.
Ten nominations have been received for the Lightning Stakes, including established Group 1 sprinter Giga Kick, with entries extended until Tuesday.
