Godolphin are contemplating a change of plans with one of their stable stars which could reshape the Caulfield Cup this weekend.
The decision is whether or not that accept Hartnell into the field and not head to the Cox Plate which was the race he had been targeting.
The news this morning is that Godolphin are likely to run Hartnell in Saturday’s $5m Caulfield Cup rather than heading to the Cox Plate.
The decision would make sense with the 2019 Caulfield Cup a race that looks better suited to the stayer and could prove to be an easier race with the leading Internationals all targeting the 2019 Cox Plate which is set to be a hot field with the absence of Winx this year.
The news is not what the connections of Nerfbosc, True Self, Prince Of Arran wanted to hear with the horses connections all hoping for a start in the race.
Hartnell was $61 in Caulfield Cup odds prior to the news.
