Giga Kick’s injury setback has dashed hopes of seeing the star sprinter in action this autumn.
Racing manager Rod Douglas confirmed that while the horse is recovering and back in light training, he won’t be ready for the upcoming races.
The injury, a torn muscle between his hamstring and hip, along with some bone damage, has been a slow-healing process.
Giga Kick, known for winning seven of his eleven career starts, including The Everest in 2022, will now aim for a spring return.
Douglas expressed the desire to target The Everest in October but acknowledged that Giga Kick might need some warm-up races to regain his form after a lengthy break.
