Group One winning jockey Zac Spain has been handed a one month suspension which will take effect immediately after he failed a breath test at Warrnambool on Wednesday.
Stewards stood Spain down immediately from his two rides on the second day of the May Racing Carnival at Warrnambool and he will not be able to ride at the Thursday meeting after he recorded a reading above the .02 limit set for jockeys.
Spain was booked to ride Polanco in the feature on the card the Listed Wangoom Handicap while his second ride on the card was aboard Exalted Crown in the ninth race.
It is understood that all jockeys were breath-tested before being permitted to take their mounts at Warrnambool on Wednesday.
