A heated clash between two Group 1-winning jockeys has prompted a stewards’ inquiry after a physical altercation at Doomben Racecourse on Wednesday left one rider requiring medical attention.
News Corp has reported that Queensland stewards have launched an investigation into a confrontation between rising star Kyle Wilson-Taylor and seasoned jockey Noel Callow, following a build-up of tension between the pair.
“I can confirm that a stewards’ inquiry has been opened into a physical altercation between two riders at the Doomben race meeting today,” said Kim Kelly, Deputy Commissioner for the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission.
“A considerable body of evidence has been taken and the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow a rider who was taken from the course for medical treatment to give evidence.”
Kelly declined to offer further comment on the ongoing matter.
