Dwayne Dunn heads off on a well-earned holiday bound for Fiji after four winners at Caulfield

Dwayne Dunn heads off on a well-earned holiday bound for Fiji after four winners at Caulfield.

After riding the opening two winners on Saturday’s card, The Astrologist in the Whisky Wine and Fire Handicap and Dogmatic in the Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap, Dunn partnered Silent Roar to win the Long Fine Print Handicap.

However Dunn thought his best ride for afternoon was Bam’s On Fire which duly saluted in the QMS Media Handicap.

“It’s been a good day at the office and the holidays start now,” Dunn said after scoring aboard Bams On Fire.

“I’m on a plane in the morning to Fiji for our daughter’s 21st birthday, so we’re away for nine days.”

Dunn has faith in Bam’s On Fire reaching a higher level after sprinting to a 2-1/2 length win after being heavily supported from $5 into $4.20.

“I thought Bam’s On Fire was my best ride for the day, so to ride three leading into that was nice,” Dunn said..

“She’s going to win a pretty nice black-type race somewhere in her life.

“She’s actually a pretty good filly.”

Dunn’s four-timer pushed him into third position with 40 winners for the season on the Melbourne jockeys’ premiership, chasing Craig Williams and Damien Oliver.

“I haven’t had the biggest year but hopefully that puts a few more in the rack and holds me in the top five for the year,” Dunn said.

David Eustace, who prepares Bam’s On Fire in partnership with Ciaron Maher, said the filly had benefited from transferring to Ballarat and being prepared out of the stables of disqualified trainer Darren Weir.

Bam’s On Fire is unbeaten this campaign following victories at Benalla and Caulfield.

Like Dunn, Eustace believes Bam’s On Fire has a black-type win in her, but when and where needs working out.

“Black-type is the plan with her,” Eustace said.

“We could have a look at what’s going on in Queensland and I think she’s a filly, if we’re kind to, she’ll progress well into an older mare as well.”
