Newgate Farm has elevated its flagship stallion Extreme Choice to an equal Australian record service fee of $385,000 (inc GST), recognising his continued success at the highest level.
The rise reflects the ongoing influence of Extreme Choice, whose progeny this season include Group 1-winning filly Apocalyptic, Todman Stakes-winning colt Paradoxium and Canonbury Stakes winner Hidrix.
The decision also aligns with Newgate’s strategy amid a tightening commercial yearling market, with the farm focusing on quality over quantity within its stallion roster.
Of the 15 stallions standing at Newgate, Extreme Choice was the only one to receive a fee increase ahead of the 2026 breeding season.
His new fee matches that of the late Coolmore shuttle stallion Wootton Bassett, who stood at the same level last year, with strong demand seen for his progeny. At the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale last month, seven of his yearlings sold for $1 million or more.
