Ready For Danger is Magic Millions bound after scoring a third Country Classic win in four years at Rosehill

Ready For Danger is Magic Millions bound after scoring a third Country Classic win in four years at Rosehill for Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn.

In an at-times scrappy 2000-metre test, jockey Jason Collett held his nerve on Dunn’s six-year-old runner to streak to an emphatic two-length triumph.

“It was a good win in the end because I got to the right spot but there were a few changes mid-race and I probably ended up in a tricky spot turning for home,” Collett said.

“Luckily a split came and, to his credit at 60kg, he actually sprinted away.”

Saturday’s win continued Dunn’s dominance over the race after scoring back-to-back victories in 2017 and 2016 with Miss Dubois and Flitero.

Ready For Danger ($5.50) can be an enigma but Dunn’s wife and stable representative Keira took confidence from having Collett in their corner.

“We changed plans with him last start to be a little bit more positive,” Dunn said.

“He can be hit and miss. You’ve got to get him on the job and that’s exactly what Jason did.

“He was patient. Gaps weren’t opening up.

“You’re always confident when you have Jason Collett on board. He’s rode a number of winners for us.”

Ready For Danger’s fourth-up win will be his final run this spell, with the Dunn stable eyeing a middle-distance race at next year’s Magic Millions meeting on the Gold Coast.

“This has been his target race the whole prep,” she said.

“He’ll have a slight little let-up and then go to Magic Millions.”

Art Attack, a $151 outsider tracked the winner home but was beaten to second by a nose from Emanuela ($3.80).

Stewards spoke to apprentice jockey Billy Owen, who admitted he probably erred when trying to go back on Maid Of Ore.

The $2.50 favourite was found wanting when the pace came on, finishing midfield in ninth almost five lengths off the winner.
