Grahame Begg is a stable in form with three winners from their last five runners and one of his stars is set to return this Saturday with speed machine Dosh running in a benchmark 84 (1000m) at Flemington.
Dosh hasn’t been seen since running down the track behind Generation in the Red Anchor Stakes at Moonee Valley in October, and Begg said her preparation hadn’t been all smooth sailing.
“She’s had an interrupted prep up until now, she’s had a few little issues and niggles that prevented her from running sooner,” said Begg.
The straight should hold no fear, having won over Saturday’s 1000m on debut and having placed in the listed Cap D’Antibes first up last time in over 1100m and Begg is just happy to have her back.
“She’s good, she jumped out really well two weeks ago at Cranbourne so we’ll see how she shapes up, there isn’t much for her at this time of year so we might just tick her over for something in the Spring,” said Begg.
The stable also have Nixie running in race one at Sandown on Wednesday, a two-year-old maiden plate and whilst it appears a strong race, Begg believes she’ll improve from a sound run first up at Cranbourne.
“She needed the run first up. She was quite big in condition and lacked match fitness, but she’ll strip fitter and it looks a nice race for her,” said Begg.
Nixie was tested at Group Three level in her first preparation, finishing down the track behind See You In Heaven and Begg is hoping she can prove herself worthy of another crack of black-type racing this time in.
