Tomorrow’s Devonport Cup meeting on January 7 will be broadcast live on Racing.com, with coverage available via Free To Air television as well as Foxtel, Kayo and streaming platforms.
The broadcast marks the first time Tasmanian racing has been shown live on Free To Air television since 2012.
Tasracing CEO Andrew Jenkins acknowledged the cooperation of long-time broadcast partner Sky Channel in allowing the meeting to be shown on FTA.
“Our new media rights deal with Sky, which started on 1 January 2026, has an FTA allowance for 10 Tasmanian thoroughbred meetings each year to be broadcast live,” he said.
“The Devonport Cup meeting will also benefit from full coverage of every race as the South Australian and Victorian race meetings have been moved due to forecast hot temperatures.”
Jenkins said it was likely that two other feature meetings from the current Ladbrokes Tasmanian Summer Racing Festival would also be broadcast live on Racing.com.
The broadcast team will be led by Matt Reid and Colin McNiff, with coverage to include pre- and post-race analysis.
Devonport Cup day features a 10-race program, with the first event scheduled for 12.30pm and the final race at 5.42pm.
The Ladbrokes Devonport Cup is race nine on the card and is set to be run at 5.07pm.
Multiple Group 1-winning Tasmanian jockey Craig Newitt will be chasing his 10th Devonport Cup success when he partners the Barry Campbell-trained Earendel.
