Jason Warren believes coming back in trip will suit Darceandermill when he lines up at Caulfield.
The two-year-old son of Lonhro will be chasing a third consecutive win when he runs in the Unleash Your Neds Toolbox Handicap (1100m) on Saturday.
Darceandermill was successful first-up from a break at Bendigo on June 5 and returned nine days later at Mornington with a comfortable victory.
Warren, who trains in partnership with Dean Krongold, had Darceandermill engaged at Sandown two days prior to the Mornington success but was scared off by fellow Mornington galloper Ranveer.
It proved an inspired move, although Warren does not believe the 1200m journey Darceandermill won over at Mornington was his ideal trip.
“Back to the 1100 metres on Saturday is ideal,” Warren said.
“I don’t think six furlongs is his go, but on his home track, rock hard fit and taking on a field that was half-full of first starters was ideal.
“When you’ve got a wound up two-year-old taking on first starters on a heavy track, we ticked a lot of boxes going to Mornington.
“We scratched him from the Saturday race which Ranveer won, and I didn’t think we could beat him, so it was a good one to dodge.
“But he gets his chance at a Saturday race this week now.”
Warren was a little bemused with the 59kg Dancerandmill has to carry, but that will be offset with Jamie Kah taking the ride.
“He worked like a Lear jet on Tuesday, so he goes into the race in good order,” Warren said.
Warren will miss watching Darceandermill taking the opportunity to fly to Brisbane to watch Brooklyn Hustle contest the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Queensland Health have opened the borders to Victorian’s enabling Warren to make his way north.
