Damian Lane has landed the rides aboard the Lindsay Park runners at the upcoming Perth summer carnival.
Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said Lane would ride stable runners Fast `N’ Rocking, He’s Our Rokkii and Extra Zero after the suspension of Michael Walker at Moonee Valley last Friday.
Walker, who has hip surgery scheduled early next month, will not appeal the ban.
Lane also incurred a suspension at Sandown on Saturday, but was outed for only seven meetings freeing him to ride in Perth.
He will ride Fast `N’ Rocking and He’s Our Rokkii on Saturday and Extra Zero in the Kingston Town Stakes on December 5 and the Cox Stakes.
Fast `N’ Rocking will tackle Buffering and Perth’s best sprinters in Saturday’s Group One Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) and enters the race off a last-start fourth to Chautauqua in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 23.
“A horse like Fast `N’ Rocking has done plenty of travelling over his career, so he’s a horse that can travel and perform,” Dabernig told Melbourne radio station RSN.
“His racing style is he gets back and runs on, so he does need luck in the race to pan out right for him, but he’s in great order and you wouldn’t get a horse looking any better.”
He’s Our Rokkii was scratched from the Sandown Guineas on Saturday to head west.
Dabernig said it was hard him and partner David Hayes to get a guide on the Perth three-year-olds adding He’s Our Rokkii, the winner of a maiden race at Benalla in September, had raced in the worst part of the track when fourth to Mahuta at Flemington on October 31.
Mahuta came out to claim a dominant win in Saturday’s the Sandown Guineas.
“Looking at the Sandown Guineas, Weiry’s horse was pretty impressive and I don’t know whether we would’ve beaten it,” Dabernig said.
“It’s a bit of a roll of the dice, but it’s worth half-a-million bucks so the owners and us alike were keen to give it a go.”
