Peter Moody has been a busy man at this morning’s Cranbourne trials, unleashing many horses he hopes will join his already strong autumn lineup.
They are currently halfway through the trials, with twenty heats scheduled for today.
The first trial saw Moody’s 2009 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward for Effort post a solid half length win in very slick time.
Reward for Effort’s stablemate Avenue was third.
The unraced More Than Ready colt Huegill looks to have a future following his easy victory.
Huegill, a two year old also trained by Moody, comes from one of the best families in South Africa.
The former Sydney-trained galloper Hinchinbrook was one of the drawcards at this morning’s trials.
Hinchinbrook, now with Moody, wasn’t overly tested when finishing fourth to the Mick Price-trained Tricky Tricky.
Karrakatta Plate runner up Miss Gai Flyer was also a commanding winner for Moody.
Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) winner Arctic Command will aim towards the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) after a good victory this morning.
Trained by Wendy Kelly, his time was easily the best of the juveniles.

UPDATE (12:25pm): The enigmatic sprinter Marconi has won his trial by 6L in a time 0.3 seconds quicker than Reward for Effort. Truly a stunning effort. There is a possibility he might go to the Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) or the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) now.
