Concord Connie will be out to repeat her impressive last start win when she returns to Flemington.

Charlotte Littlefield wants to see her exciting filly Concord Connie produce a repeat performance before allowing herself to dream bigger.

Concord Connie produced a stunning performance to win at her third race start at Flemington on Anzac Day, recording a six-length win in slick time.

The filly returns to Flemington on Saturday to tackle the ‘boys’ in the K A Morrison Handicap (1400m).

“We’re just trying to keep a lid on her at the moment and not get ahead of ourselves,” Littlefield said.

“She has to back-up that performance before we start jumping up and down, but she’s in really good order.

“She’s doing everything you want to see, she’s ticked all the boxes, and we’ve got to get through one more day.”

The last start Flemington victory was Concord Connie’s second for the campaign and Littlefield said the plan was not to press on too far this time in.

A gallop at Pakenham on Tuesday showed the trainer the three-year-old was in good order which followed a course proper gallop the week prior.

“She’s a naturally athletic, fit and a gifted horse aerobically,” Littlefield said.

“I can’t fault the horse, and we’ll see how she goes on Saturday.”

Littlefield has absorbed pressure before with She’s Bulletproof, a Group 1 placegetter who was recently retired, and said she was not feeling that sort of pressure yet with Concord Connie.

But she is aware it was mounting after the filly’s last start win and success on Saturday may raise that bar.

“We haven’t gone to lofty heights, we’re in a handicap for three-year-olds,” Littlefield said.

“We haven’t gone too high and this might be her last run before she heads to the paddock with spring aims.

“She’s a filly that is still quite fragile at times, quite sensitive and I think doing too much at this time will be detrimental to her future.”
