Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller has numbers on his side as he looks to this year’s spring features.
“It’s easily the most I’ve entered,” he said on Tuesday, the deadline for Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate entries.
“Obviously a lot can happen between now and the races but you’ve got to put them in.”
Waller said his Melbourne Cup entries would become clearer closer to the September 1 deadline.
Three Group One stars – My Kingdom Of Fife, Stand To Gain and Pressday – spearhead Waller’s Tuesday entries.
The Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate are possible targets for Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner My Kingdom Of Fife and Sydney Cup winner Stand To Gain.
Pressday has been entered for the Cox Plate.
Three of Waller’s Rosehill winners from last Saturday – Altius, Brayroan and Foreteller – have also done enough to earn nominations.
Hawk Island, Syreon and Triple Elegance are other familiar names from the Waller stable who are among first entries.
Stayers provided the foundation for Waller’s first Sydney premiership success in 2010/11.
The former New Zealand trainer has dominated distance races in Sydney in recent seasons on the back of multiple runners, mainly imported from Europe.
