Multiple Group 1 winning sprinter Chautauqua who failed to jump in two trials last week will again miss another trial this morning meaning he will not line-up in Saturday’s Group 1 Canterbury Stakes.
Chautauqua was expected to trial at Warwick Farm this morning after failing to jump in two trials last week in lead up to his expected return in the G1 Canterbury Stakes although Team Hawkes have decided that he will bypass this mornings trial and trial at Rosehill on Thursday.
The decision to bypass this mornings trial means Chautauqua will not race in the Canterbury Stakes on Saturday and will likely run first up in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 23 as long as he receives his barrier certificate.
Trainer Michael @HawkesRacing says Chautauqua won’t be trialling this morning. Instead Thursday trial at Rosehill. If all goes to plan from the barriers Chautauqua is off to Group 1 William Reid March 23 @TheValley
