Craig Williams has secured the ride on Buckaroo in next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Cox Plate runner-up will take his place in the famous 3200m race at Flemington, with Williams booked to partner him.
Buckaroo contested last year’s Melbourne Cup as the race favourite, finishing ninth after making a wide, sustained run under Joao Moreira from barrier 20.
At the time of writing, Buckaroo is rated a $9 chance to win the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday.
