Racing is on the horizon at Caulfield as the Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) conducted a series of jumpouts on the course proper this Tuesday, in preparation for its highly-anticipated return meeting for 2023 on June 24.
The day commenced on a high note for esteemed trainer Pat Carey, with his charges, Crestani and Starlight Scope, contesting the opening heat of the morning. Carey, a multiple Group 1-winning trainer based in Mornington, was the first to put the track to the test this year.
Speaking after the workout, Carey shared his positive impression of the track conditions, stating, “The track was in good condition, probably a Good 4 and it raced really well.”
Adding to the positive sentiment, he further noted, “It was good with a touch of give, so the horses were able to break the surface.” Carey confidently claimed that one would be hard-pressed to find a better surface in Australia on this day than the one at Caulfield.
The MRC will certainly be buoyed by Carey’s endorsement as they gear up for the return of racing later this month. It’s a promising sign for all participants and fans, marking another stride towards Caulfield’s triumphant return to the racing calendar.
